SMS (Mobile) Terms of Service

The Book Outlet mobile message service (the “Service”) is operated by Book Depot, Inc. (“Book Outlet”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) for our Canadian customers. Your use of the Service is governed by the following terms and conditions (“Mobile Terms”).

IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ CAREFULLY: THESE MOBILE TERMS CONSTITUTE A LEGALLY BINDING AGREEMENT BETWEEN YOU AND BOOK OUTLET. YOUR ACCESS TO AND USE OF THE SERVICE IS CONDITIONED UPON YOUR ACCEPTANCE OF AND COMPLIANCE WITH THESE MOBILE TERMS. BY CLICKING ANY BOX OR BUTTON INDICATING YOUR ACCEPTANCE OF THESE MOBILE TERMS, OR BY OTHERWISE ACCESSING OR USING THE SERVICE, YOU REPRESENT AND WARRANT THAT YOU ARE EIGHTEEN (18) YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER AND ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU HAVE READ, UNDERSTAND, AND AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THESE MOBILE TERMS WITHOUT MODIFICATION.

Do not use the Service if you are unwilling or unable to be bound by these Mobile Terms.

1. Consent and Scope

By enrolling in our Service through the Book Outlet website or other means, you provide express consent to receive recurring SMS/text messages from and on behalf of Book Outlet to the mobile number you provided. Consent is not a condition of purchase.

Messages may include marketing promotions, special offers, loyalty programs, and transactional notifications (e.g., order and shipping updates). Messages may be sent using automated technologies.

This Service is intended solely for users residing in Canada.

2. Message Frequency and Cost

Message frequency may vary. Book Outlet does not charge for this Service, but standard message and data rates may apply based on your wireless plan. You are solely responsible for any fees charged by your mobile provider.

3. Opting Out

You may opt out of this Service at any time by replying “STOP” to any message or following any unsubscribe link where provided. You will receive a one-time confirmation message. No further messages will be sent unless initiated by you.

If you have subscribed to other Book Outlet SMS programs, you must opt out of each one separately.

4. Customer Support

For assistance, email [email protected] or call 1 888 402 7323. Messages are sent via short code 26657, subject to change with notice.

5. Mobile Number Ownership

You agree to provide a valid mobile number that you own. If your number changes, you must opt in again using the new number. Book Outlet is not responsible for any issues caused by incorrect or reassigned numbers.

6. Privacy and Compliance

We respect your privacy. Your personal data is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy, in compliance with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

We are committed to compliance with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) and only send SMS communications to users who have provided express consent. You may withdraw consent at any time.

7. Disclaimers and Limitations

To the extent permitted by applicable law:

  • We are not liable for delayed, undelivered, or misdirected messages.

  • Wireless carriers are not liable for any service failures.

  • You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless for third-party claims related to misuse of the Service or provision of a number not your own.

8. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify or cancel the Service or these Mobile Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated, and continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance.
