The Vanishing Box (A Brighton Mystery)

Winter, 1953. While Max Mephisto and his daughter Ruby perform at Brighton's Hippodrome Theatre alongside a nude tableaux show, DI Edgar Stephens is investigating a murder of a young flower seller.

The victim has been posed in a tableau of her own: the death of Lady Jane Grey. Edgar doesn't like the coincidence. His suspicions of a connection are vindicated when another violent death occurs within the tableaux troupe itself, and Max finds himself once more drawn into a murder investigation.

Edgar and Max have faced down serial killers and anarchist bombers together, but this threat will come closer to home than anything before. What should be just a job is about to become personal.
