As the story begins Mrs. James is upset because her husband forgets to kiss her goodbye and passes on her anger to the next person and the next person passes on their anger to the next person and so on and so on until the pattern is stopped by a playful puppy who passes on his good mood to the next person and so on and so on until Mr. James comes home and kisses his wife hello.
