In 1972, the same apartment is home to Florence and Henry—she finishing her degree in psychology, he uncertain about fatherhood, and both navigating the aftermath of political and intellectual ferment.

The novel is about how our homes gather history, memory, identity and desire; how the people we love and the places we occupy shape who we are and who we become.
