Cruddy

Roberta Rohbeson begins her book in 1971, planning to set down all the details of her life "in the cruddiest part of a crudded-out town in cruddy state, country, world, solar system, universe". What starts out as a drug-fueled teen-age rant, however, gradually fades into the story of two cross-country trips she made with her father five years earlier, a story Roberta has kept to herself since the day she was found wandering alone in the desert covered with blood.
